The episode begins with Kusum asking Mangal if she has something to say. Mangal replies that a lot has happened in the past 24 hours. Kusum tells her that she understands what she’s going through and says that when a family member is in trouble, one does everything possible to help them. She explains that she’s also trying her best to save Sudesh. Kusum adds that since Mangal left the house, Sudesh hasn’t stopped asking about her. She reminds Mangal of her responsibilities and walks away. Mangal folds her hands in prayer, asking God for the strength to tell Kusum the truth.
Meanwhile, Pratima asks Shanti to choose a saree for Mangal. Shanti replies that Mangal always chooses what brings others happiness, so there’s no need to overthink it.
Later, Mangal approaches Kusum and says she wants to talk. Kusum sets down the iron box and bluntly asks if Mangal is doing all of this unwillingly. She tells Mangal to swear on her and speak the truth. Kusum adds that it’s a good thing Sudesh didn’t see her without her mangalsutra and sindoor—otherwise, who knows what he would’ve done. Mangal explains she forgot to wear them after bathing. Kusum questions if her heart is no longer in it and tells her to speak up if she can’t continue pretending in front of Sudesh. Mangal insists that’s not the case. She apologizes and promises to wear them again but says she needs to tell her something important. Just then, they smell something burning. They discover the saree has been scorched by the iron box. Kusum says the iron is also damaged and that she must get it repaired. She leaves.
Pratima tells Shanti that she’s planning to call the pandit in the evening for a pooja, and they can finalize Kapil and Mangal’s engagement date during it. Shanti agrees. Pratima says Mangal is torn between her past and present, and it’s better she starts focusing on the present. Shanti decides to call Mangal for the pooja. Pratima supports the idea.
Mangal puts on her mangalsutra and sindoor. Pratima then calls Kapil and asks him to cancel all his evening meetings and come home, as the pooja and engagement date discussion are scheduled for today. Kapil agrees. Adit, who is nearby, overhears the conversation. After Kapil hangs up, Adit hands him some files but quietly reflects that Kapil getting married will free Mangal. He knows Mangal is always busy managing the kids, his father, and his mother.
Shanti calls Mangal and asks her to come home soon as she needs her help. Mangal agrees. Kusum asks if the food is prepared. Mangal confirms it is and that she also gave medicine to Papa Ji. She tells Kusum that her mother’s health is not well and she’s going to check on her. Kusum says it’s hard for her to manage Sudesh alone. Mangal assures her she’ll be back soon and not to panic before leaving.
At Kapil’s house, Pratima supervises the pooja preparations. She notices Shanti looking uneasy and assures her not to feel guilty for lying to Mangal to bring her there. She says Mangal will be happy, so Shanti shouldn’t worry.
Adit returns home in a cheerful mood. Sowmya notices and asks why he looks so happy. Adit says life should be lived as it comes. When she presses further, he tells her, “You said Kapil is Mangal’s boyfriend, but that’s not true—he’s getting engaged.” He adds, “I told you before, Mangal was never going to marry anyone.” Shocked, Sowmya asks who Kapil is getting engaged to. Adit replies, “I don’t care to know.”
Mangal arrives at Kapil’s house and is shocked to see the pooja arrangements. She asks Pratima if something happened to Shanti. Pratima assures her Shanti is fine, then puts a necklace and bangles on Mangal and covers her head with a red dupatta. Realizing Shanti is perfectly well, Mangal questions the deception. Shanti admits she lied and says, “You wouldn’t have come if I told you we were fixing your engagement with Kapil.” Mangal, surprised, asks why things are moving so fast. She says she needs time and wants to inform Kusum. But Shanti insists that Kusum doesn’t need to know, and says if Mangal truly stands by her promise, she should sit for the pooja—otherwise, she won’t take her medicine. Mangal stands silently, caught in a dilemma.
