The episode begins with Shanti confronting Mangal, saying, “If your promise to me is real, then sit in the pooja.” She firmly makes Mangal take a seat for the ritual.
Meanwhile, Sowmya is confused, wondering how Pratima could be organizing Kapil’s engagement with someone else. She asks Adit if he knows who Kapil is getting engaged to. Adit admits he doesn’t and adds, “I know Mangal well—she would never agree to marry someone like him. And I have no idea who Kapil is marrying.”
At that moment, Kusum arrives and asks if Kapil is really getting engaged. Adit confirms that today is the day of the engagement pooja. Surprised that Pratima didn’t inform her, Kusum assumes she must be busy and decides to call her. Sowmya, determined to get to the bottom of things, resolves to find out the full truth.
Kapil tries to calm a tense Pratima, reassuring her that Mangal is innocent and has already agreed to sit in the pooja, so there’s no need to worry. He notices Mangal is already seated, and Pratima quickly forces him to sit beside her. She instructs the pandit to begin the ceremony.
As the rituals start, the pandit asks the couple to pray for a smooth and happy marriage. Pratima silently prays for the ceremony to go off without any obstacles. When Kusum calls her, she ignores it. Worried, Kusum decides to personally deliver the prasad from the temple and asks an auto driver to take her to Kapil’s house.
During the pooja, Pratima applies kumkum to both Mangal and Kapil’s foreheads, giving them her blessings. Mangal is visibly emotional. Pratima then performs aarti for them, and the pandit announces the successful completion of the engagement ritual. Shanti tells Pratima, “From today, consider Mangal your daughter-in-law.” Pratima replies warmly, “Mangal is like a daughter to me.”
Overwhelmed, Mangal recalls how Kusum once treated her like a daughter too. She quietly slips away and breaks down in the washroom. Looking at herself in the mirror, she removes her bangles and necklace, trying to pull herself together. Shanti, waiting outside, asks why she left so suddenly. Mangal replies that she’s coming. Just then, Shanti receives a phone call and walks away.
Pratima thinks to herself, “Mangal now belongs to Kapil. No one can separate them.” At that moment, Kusum arrives and confronts her, asking, “Why didn’t you share this good news with me?” She explains that she came straight from the temple with prasad to bless the couple and insists on meeting her new daughter-in-law.
Mangal, seeing Kusum, is shocked. Kapil also notices her but is interrupted by a phone call. Shanti, visibly uncomfortable, tries to leave, but Kusum spots her and stops her. “Mangal told us you were unwell and went to your own home. Are you feeling better now?” Kusum asks.
Just then, Mangal enters the room. Kusum questions why she’s at Kapil’s house. Shanti suggests they move inside, as there are guests around. Once inside, Kusum confronts Mangal about lying. Mangal insists she didn’t lie, but Kusum refuses to believe her and calls her dishonest. Shanti steps in to defend her. “I asked Mangal to come here. She didn’t lie. I’m staying here temporarily,” she explains.
Mangal adds, “Mom’s house is being renovated, so she’s staying at Pratima Ji’s place.” Kusum asks why Mangal didn’t bring Shanti to their house instead. Shanti answers, “I refused. Mangal has no ties with your family now.” She scolds Kusum for mistreating Mangal.
With sarcasm, Kusum says, “Thank you for making it clear our relationship is over.” Mangal tries to plead with her, but Kusum refuses to listen. “I’ve seen everything with my own eyes,” she says. Mangal tries to explain she had intended to tell the truth but couldn’t. Shanti comforts Mangal and assures her, “Don’t worry. I’ll talk to her and explain everything.”
